Child dedication is open to any age and to anyone who attends CUUF (membership is not required). The child dedication ceremony includes introducing and welcoming the child to the fellowship, asking the fellowship to pledge their support to ‘be the village’ for the tender life among us, and shares in the celebration of this new life in our midst. If parents or guardians prefer, the ceremony can also include the naming of godparents, spiritual companion, or spiritual mentor in their child’s life.
If you would like your child(ren) to participate in the child dedication ceremony, please indicate your interest by emailing Rev. Stacy Craig at minister@chequamegonuuf.org by Wednesday, May 13.
Many years ago, in the wake of the First World War, a child gave their Unitarian minister a small flower. Times were so hard, but this gesture of beauty inspired the first Flower Communion. Each year, CUUF honors this tradition, celebrating the diversity and beauty of this gathered community. Please bring a flower and place it in the communal vase when you arrive. This service will also feature the Graduation Ceremony, Child Dedication Ceremony, and Our Whole Lives graduates.
