Event Details
Special Instructions: please consider bringing a cup of soil for the dirt communion and a dish to pass for the potluck after the service. Kids will be invited to stay for the whole service as no separate RE classes will be held. Childcare for 4 yo and younger will be provided.
The word 'Easter' is derived from the goddess of spring and dawn, known as Ostara or Eostre. Our Easter service will feature youth presenting a marionette show "Ostara and the White Hare". The story is based on ancient tales about how new life, transformation, and renewal comes after winter. This legend creates connections that grew into the tradition of the Easter Hare bringing eggs to children. The festival of Ostara is celebrated around the vernal equinox as a time to welcome the returning light, plant seeds, and honor the fertility of the earth. We will have a 'Dirt Communion.' Please bring a cup of soil from a place that has meaning to you to add to the collective pot as we renew our commitment to the interdependent web of life. All kids will be invited to attend the service as no separate Religious Education classes will be offered. Childcare for kids 4 and younger will be available.
Following the service there will be a potluck brunch. Please sign up with Lindy, Hospitality Committee Chair, to bring your special brunch entrees lindyrlhowe@gmail.com
