Healthy Cognitive Aging in a Rural Area: How Our Passions Support Cognitive Well-being.

A Dementia Care Specialist, Colleen is passionate about helping our community understand that healthy aging is about far more than medical care — it is about connection, purpose, and continuing to use the gifts God has given us.

Colleen will share insights on how living in a rural community presents both unique challenges and meaningful strengths when it comes to aging well.  We will explore how lifelong passions — such as music, cooking, volunteering, teaching, gardening, and fellowship — actively support cognitive well-being by stimulating the brain, reducing isolation, and strengthening social bonds. Colleen will also share personal reflections from her own journey with music and cooking, and how these passions have shaped her understanding of brain health, joy, and community.
